i can’t believe i agreed to go portaging up north in 5 weeks. those who know me know i think that staying at holiday inn is camping. so this should be interesting. the person whose canoe i will be sharing is the kind of person who cannot see anyones point of view but his own. and i don’t want to be that kind of person. so i am pushing my own inner boundaries and surprised everyone by taking the challenge. but for gods sake, who thinks going to the bathroom in the forest is dignified in any way? and his joy over how we’ll spend half the time looking for wood for the fire… i don’t get it yet. but in the past my only camping experiences have been in heavily populated campgrounds, and last time i went there were people who brought and set up a big screen tv to watch some game on tv and were so loud and inconsiderate and obnoxious. why are there even such dumb people like that? i think that kind of camping is just sort of like practicing to be homeless or something. why bother camping if you’re bringing that? and, ugh, being around stupid elements of humanity like that is precisley what i always want to avoid and having tents for walls in that scenario is just a reminder of the value of real solid walls and barriers. so at least we will be away from things like that. anyway i hope i like this. what the heck, right? wish me luck. i’ll report back with the results.
